South Lake Tahoe is a community of incredible talent and diversity but there aren’t a ton of places to showcase the work of local artists. The new Mountain Aloha space is a work of art in itself and we are so proud to be able to offer gallery space to artists and provide a much needed platform to showcase the creative energy surging in the basin. featured artist

Christie Marie Elder Russell

Christie Marie is the genius artist behind the original Mountain Aloha murals at the studio by the lake. The inspiring scenery that embraced so many clients  was tragically destroyed when the structure collapsed in 2017 due to the heavy snow load on the roof, a devastating loss.

The next chapter in the evolving story of Mountain Aloha is unfolding in an amazing way. Christie‘s unique style of art murals has transformed the new space into a breathtaking landscape that highlights treasures of the mountain beauty we all love in symbiosis with a love for the Hawaiian islands. The connection that both locals Christie and Lauren share in expression of the aloha spirit.

Some of Christie’s original mural art from the first lake studio was saved from the destruction and is now framed and gracing the walls in the new location.  An incredible restoration project and journey!! A few of the iconic pieces of the original Mountain Aloha Mural are showcased; for instance the white owl (pueo) flying low through the forest and Mount Tallac reflected in Lake Tahoe.

Come share in the beauty of her epic artistic creativity!!!

Christie is an artist from South Lake Tahoe with a creative passion and respect for the epic geological beauty, gorgeous living creatures & natural mana of this wild world. Christie’s “Aloha Aina” (Love of the Land) reverberates through her art in unique ways as she shares her deep connection with nature with her audiences through her many mediums of visual art.
